In only 5 minutes a day taking the time to quiet your mind and body can change your life. I cannot imagine my life without meditation and how it has changed my life.

I was first introduced to meditation when I was in my 20’s when my anxiety was at its highest. I had always had some anxiety as a child, but no one talked about it back then, I thought it was normal and that was just the way I would always feel.
It was when I was working fulltime and attending college that my anxiety was at its worst, trying anything to help calm it down. I met someone who introduced me to meditation, a way to calm my mind. I was skeptical, I was. I thought I had tried everything, how can just sitting quietly take my anxiety away without my mind racing. But why not give it a try?

What is Guided Meditation?
Guided meditation is a type of meditation that is guided by a meditation leader, a soft voice that guides your imagination with affirmations, guided breathing and takes you along a journey of calm. This type of meditation is what I started my meditation journey with, it took my mind somewhere else, guiding me to exhale my worries away and inhale calm.
All You Need is 5 Minutes a Day To Bring Calm To Your Body and Mind
When I first started this blog , I knew I wanted to share my meditation journey with you, as this plays such an important part in my path to wellness. We can feed our body with healthy foods but keeping our minds healthy plays an even bigger role. I thought this would be the right time to write this post as our world right now is in a state of anxiety and unknown. I am so thankful that I have my meditation to calm my anxious mind during this time, who would have known we would be in a pandemic in 2021?
I know we live in busy times, some are working 40-50 hours a week and some are stay at home parents, homeschooling and raising our kids. I get it! It is hard to find that extra 5 minutes, I thought the same at one time of my life until I not only made the time, I looked forward to it. I made it a priority and it has changed my life in ways I never thought 5 minutes a day could.

If we stop and think of all the things we do in a day ,like scroll our phones, check our email, watch TV or search the internet. There is our 5 minutes, Take that time to breathe, to really notice our breath and how grateful we truly are to breathe everyday, Take care of that breath, slow down.
Once you start out with 5 minutes a day, you will see just how calm you feel, add a few minutes more when you have the time. Meditation can be done a couple times a day. Morning meditations can prepare you for your day ahead and evening meditations can help you wind down for the night.
Meditation doesn’t have to be just sitting with your eyes closed. Meditation can be going for a walk in nature, working in your quiet garden, picking flowers and sitting quietly reading affirmations. I love to play quiet music and roll out dough on my kitchen counter or getting out and playing with my dog Maddie.

Slowing down our mind and body for just 5 minutes can change not only how you feel but how you see things in life. You feel more balanced, more grateful and genuinely start to feel more happy.
There are so many resources available for meditation. Our internet is full of guided meditation videos and calming music.

Taking the time to just cuddle up with a blanket and a warm cup of tea is a nice way to end your day. Being grateful for the breath we take is another way to spend 5 minutes a day in meditation.
Take some time to breath and slow down your body and mind
